Local, insured, independent. Since 1991.
Garage doors are heavy, spring-loaded machines, and a bad install or a cheap repair can fail dangerously. Here is what working with Simpson Sales actually means for your door.
Proud member of
Brands we carry and service.
We are independent, so we repair every make and supply the lines we trust to hold up in Vermont winters.
What sets us apart
Six reasons people call us back.
Fully insured, always
Every job we do is covered. That protects you, your property, and the people working on your door. Ask any contractor for proof of insurance. We are happy to provide it.
Every brand, no agenda
We are not a dealer for one manufacturer trying to sell you a system. We repair the door and opener you already own, and we recommend a replacement only when it genuinely makes more sense.
Real local response
Our shop is on Depot Street in Hyde Park. You get a business you can drive to and people you can reach, not a national call center that dispatches whoever is nearby.
Built for Vermont
Three and a half decades of northern winters teaches you what fails. Seals, springs, hardware and openers are specified for cold, snow and hard use, not just what is cheapest.
Honest repair-or-replace advice
We tell you when a door is worth fixing. A single failed spring on a solid door gets repaired. A twenty-year-old door with rotted framing and repeated failures gets a straight recommendation to replace.
Family-run since 1991
We are a locally owned small business. The person who quotes your job and the person who performs it care about the same thing: the door working when we drive away.
Who we work for
Homes, businesses, farms and industrial shops.
Garage doors are not only a residential problem. We work with homeowners, business owners, agricultural operations and industrial facilities across northern Vermont, and we size the hardware to the traffic the door actually sees.
- Homeowners
- Business and commercial
- Agricultural and barn doors
- Industrial facilities

Why not just do it yourself?
We hear this question a lot, and we understand the appeal. The honest answer is that garage door work combines the two worst risks in home repair: stored mechanical energy and heavy moving weight. A torsion spring under load can inflict serious injury in an instant, and an unbalanced door can drop without warning. Add the cost of specialty tools and the likelihood of damaging parts, and professional service is usually the safer and often cheaper choice.
- Springs store enough energy to cause serious injury
- Improperly balanced doors wear out openers quickly
- Track alignment affects whether a door can fall
- Warranty terms often require professional workmanship
- Insured service protects your property
How we stay independent
We sell doors. We do not sell you on one.
There is nothing wrong with buying a garage door from us, and many customers do. But we are not a dealership with a quota, and that changes what happens when you call us for a repair.
We will tell you when a repair is the better answer
A failed spring on a structurally sound door is a repair, not a replacement. We say so even though a new door would be the larger invoice, because the recommendation that keeps a door working is the one that gets you to call us again in five years.
We work on whatever you already own
We service all door and opener brands. If you bought a set from a big-box store and installed it yourself, we will happily fix what is wrong with it rather than recommending you start over with something we supply.
We do not recommend the same fix for every call
A door failing once in fifteen years and a door failing three times in two years look like the same problem on the surface, but they warrant different answers. We look at the history, not just the symptom of the day.
We give a number before we start
You know what the work costs before anyone touches the door. If we open it up and find something the estimate could not have anticipated, we stop and talk to you before the price changes.
Thirty-five years of doors that still open.
Simpson Sales Unlimited has been serving northern Vermont since 1991. Let us take care of your garage door.
